Haliburton Forest & Wolf Centre
Nestled deep in Ontario’s Highlands, Haliburton Forest & Wildlife Reserve is a privately owned, 100,000-acre nature preserve known for its pristine lakes, ancient forests, and year-round outdoor adventures. The forest is home to endless trails for hiking, snowshoeing, dog sledding, and ice climbing — offering visitors a true escape into the wild heart of Ontario.
One of its most unique attractions is the Haliburton Forest Wolf Centre, a 5,000-square-foot educational facility dedicated to wolf behaviour and ecology. Inside, you’ll find interactive exhibits, a small theatre showing documentaries, and a viewing area with one-way glass that overlooks a seven-acre natural enclosure — home to a resident pack of wolves. Visitors can learn about the wolves’ complex social structures, their role in the ecosystem, and ongoing conservation efforts.
Even if the wolves remain hidden during your visit, the experience of standing quietly in their territory and possibly hearing their haunting howls through the forest is truly unforgettable.
Haliburton Forest combines adventure, education, and wilderness — making it one of Ontario’s most remarkable year-round destinations.
